Case 580 / 590 Backhoe EGR / DPF Delete Tune

Earlier Case 580N, 580 Super N and 590 Super N backhoes clean their exhaust with EGR and a diesel particulate filter, and short jobsite cycles never let that filter burn clean. Our Reflash Master handheld connects at the diagnostic port and writes a file that turns off EGR, regeneration and DPF monitoring, so the 580 Super N stops derating over soot. Add Stage 1 for 10% more power from the same file. We ship all across the US and Canada.

EXHAUST DPF comes out With regeneration and DPF monitoring shut off in the new file, the particulate filter is removed and a straight pipe goes in its place. The EGR valve is closed off in software, so nothing needs to be unbolted on the intake side.

Handheld tuning process

STEP 01OrderChoose the EGR/DPF delete on its own or with Stage 1. Most kits leave our shop the next business day.
STEP 02ReadConnect the handheld at the diagnostic port and pull a copy of the factory ECM file.
STEP 03SendSend that file to us through the client software. Your tuned file comes back in roughly 2 hours.
STEP 04WriteFlash the tuned file, turn the key off and on, then pull the DPF and fit the straight pipe.

Why delete the EGR and DPF on a Case 580 Super N?

EGR

Exhaust gas recirculation

Feeding exhaust back into the intake keeps combustion cooler, but it also coats the valve, cooler and intake manifold in carbon. A backhoe that swaps between digging and idling builds that carbon fast, and a stuck EGR valve or leaking cooler on a 580 Super N is an expensive shop visit. Turning EGR off lets the engine breathe clean air and takes those parts out of the failure list.

DPF

Diesel particulate filter

The filter traps soot and has to reach high exhaust temperatures to burn it off. Trenching, loading trucks and travelling between stops rarely hold the engine under load long enough, so the 580 Super N asks for parked regens or drops into derate with a plugged filter. A full DPF replacement or cleaning service adds up quickly. Removing the filter ends regens and frees up exhaust flow.

Frequently asked questions

Q1Which backhoes does this kit fit?+

The Case 580N, 580 Super N and 590 Super N built with EGR and a diesel particulate filter. If your backhoe has a DEF tank instead, it needs our Case backhoe EGR/DEF kit.

Q2Does the DPF have to be removed?+

Yes. Once the file turns off regeneration, the filter will keep loading with soot, so it should come out and be replaced with a straight pipe.

Q3What happens to the EGR?+

The EGR valve is closed off in the tuned file and the related fault codes are switched off. No parts on the intake side need to be removed.

Q4How much power does Stage 1 add?+

Roughly 10%. A 580 Super N rated at 97 hp makes about 107 hp after Stage 1, and the 580N and 590 Super N gain a similar share. Stage 1 is the only power level for these backhoes.

Q5Can the handheld tune a second backhoe?+

It can. The first flash ties the Reflash Master to that backhoe’s VIN, so the tuned file works on that machine only. When you have another Case backhoe to do, get in touch and we unlock the handheld and write a new file for it as a separate tune.

Q6When will my kit ship?+

Kits usually leave within one business day for customers across the US and Canada. Expedited orders received after 12 PM ET go out the following day.
