Case’s Tier 4 Final N Series backhoes, including the popular 580 Super N, rely on an FPT engine with EGR and SCR, and a DEF fault on a jobsite means a crew waiting on one machine. Our Reflash Master handheld plugs into the backhoe and loads a file that shuts off both the EGR valve and the DEF/SCR system. These engines have no DPF, so no exhaust parts come off, and an optional Stage 1 tune adds 10% more power. We ship all across the US and Canada.

No exhaust parts removed
Case paired EGR with SCR on these backhoes but skipped the particulate filter. The EGR valve is closed off in the file and the SCR can stays bolted on, so the whole delete is done in the ECM.
Handheld tuning process
STEP 01OrderPick the EGR/DEF reflash or add Stage 1 power. Your kit usually ships the next business day.
STEP 02ReadPlug the handheld into the backhoe’s diagnostic connector and save the stock ECM file to it.
STEP 03SendUpload the stock file to us from your shop computer. We return a modified file in about 2 hours.
STEP 04WriteLoad the new file onto the ECM, cycle the key and put the backhoe back to work.

EGR
Exhaust gas recirculation
The 3.4L FPT routes a share of its exhaust back through a cooler and into the intake. Backhoes spend long stretches idling between trenching passes, and that low-load running builds soot in the EGR valve and cooler until the valve sticks or the cooler plugs. Shutting off EGR keeps the intake clean, drops combustion temperatures out of the soot cycle, and removes a cooler that is costly to replace on a high-hour 580 Super N.
DEF
Diesel exhaust fluid
Backhoes move between jobsites constantly, and DEF is one more fluid to carry in the service truck. It sits in a tank that gets bounced, baked in summer and frozen in winter, and contaminated or old fluid sets off quality codes. On a busy 580 Super N, a derate from a DEF fault can tie up a crew for the day. Deleting DEF means no more fluid, no more refills and no more DEF-related downtime.
SCR
Selective catalytic reduction
The FPT engine checks its NOx sensor, dosing valve and DEF heaters constantly. When one of those parts starts to fail, the backhoe can limit power or engine speed until the fault is repaired. These are common repairs on high-hour Case and New Holland backhoes. With SCR monitoring turned off in our file, those failures no longer take power away.

Frequently asked questions
Q1Which backhoes are covered?+
Case 570N, 580N, 580 Super N and 590 Super N with Tier 4 Final engines, plus the New Holland B95C, B95C LR and B110C. If your machine has a DEF tank and one of these model numbers, this kit fits.
Q2Does the 580 Super N need any exhaust work?+
No. None of these backhoes carry a DPF, and the EGR and SCR are both switched off in the engine software. The SCR catalyst stays in place, so there is nothing to cut out or replace.
Q3What do I do with the DEF tank?+
Drain the remaining fluid and flush the tank, pump and lines with washer fluid so nothing is left to crystallize inside the system.
Q4How much power does Stage 1 add?+
About 10%. A 580 Super N goes from 97 hp to around 107 hp, and the 590 Super N from 110 hp to about 121 hp. Stage 1 is the only horsepower level we offer for these backhoes.
Q5Can I tune more than one backhoe?+
Yes. Your first flash locks the Reflash Master to that backhoe’s VIN, so the file only works on the machine it was built for. You keep the handheld, and when another backhoe needs tuning, contact us to unlock it. The next machine gets its own file, priced as a separate tune.

Most orders ship within one business day to anywhere in the US and Canada. Expedited orders placed after 12 PM ET ship the next day.
