2011–2014 Case IH AFX Combine DEF Delete Tune

Take DEF out of the equation on your 30 Series Axial-Flow. A plug-and-play module goes into the diagnostic port on the side of the cab and shuts off the SCR dosing system for good, with nothing to cut and no exhaust parts to pull. Want more power too? Our handheld device loads a Stage 1 or Stage 2 horsepower tune worth up to 18% over stock. We ship all across the US and Canada.

The handheld device writes the Stage 1 or Stage 2 tune; the module handles the DEF side only. Figures shown are for a 9230 at rated power. The 7230 and 8230 start lower and gain a similar percentage, so call us for the numbers on your machine.

EXHAUST No exhaust modification needed The 30 Series AFX was built without a DPF. Its SCR catalyst is free-flowing, so it stays bolted on and the exhaust is left exactly as it is.

Why delete the DEF on a 30 Series AFX?

DEF

Diesel exhaust fluid

The 7230, 8230 and 9230 were the first Axial-Flow models to rely on DEF to meet Tier 4A, and their tank, pump and heated lines are now a decade or more old. DEF is mostly water, so a winter in the shed can freeze it, split the tank or leave crystals in the supply module. Shutting the system off ends the cost of the fluid, the trips to fill it and the repair bills that come with it.

SCR

Selective catalytic reduction

On the 30 Series, the SCR system is the only emissions control the engine answers to. When a NOx sensor drifts or the doser plugs, the engine controller cuts power to protect itself, often with the hopper half full. The module tells the controller everything is in range, so an aging sensor can no longer pull the combine out of the field.

No laptop, no file transfer

The DEF delete on a 30 Series AFX is done with a module, not a reflash. It plugs into the diagnostic port beside the cab and stays there, so there is no file to pull or send back. We build and bench-test every module ourselves before it goes in the box.

01Installs in minutesOne connection at the diagnostic port. No laptop, no internet signal required.
02One kit, three modelsThe same module fits the 7230, 8230 and 9230 Axial-Flow.
03Power for heavy cropAdded torque keeps the rotor up to speed when you push into tough crop.

Frequently asked questions

Q1Why buy my AFX tune from Reimer Tuning?+

Reimer Tuning has worked on farm equipment since 2014. Every AFX module is made in house, and we stand behind each one we ship. If you get stuck during the install, call and a tech will walk you through it.

Q2Do I need a laptop or a handheld?+

The DEF delete needs neither. The module plugs into the diagnostic port and is active the next time the engine starts. A horsepower tune is different: Stage 1 and Stage 2 are written with our handheld device, which ships in horsepower kits, and the tutorial video above shows each step.

Q3Can I still reach the diagnostic port?+

Yes. A Y connector on the module leaves a free port, so you can plug in a scan tool or let the dealer connect while the module stays in place.

Q4Will I need to change the exhaust?+

No. There is no DPF on a 30 Series AFX, and the SCR catalyst can stay where it is. Nothing in the exhaust needs to change.

Q5What happens to the DEF tank?+

Once the module is in, the combine no longer pulls from the tank. Drain what is left and flush the system with washer fluid so leftover DEF cannot crystallize inside the lines or pump.

Q6Does more power mean more fuel?+

Think of it in ground speed. With the tune, the AFX can travel faster through the field while the rotor stays loaded, so you finish more acres in an hour. The engine may use a little more per hour, but over a full field the fuel per acre typically holds steady or improves.

Q7When will my module ship?+

Kits usually ship the next business day anywhere in the US and Canada. Expedited orders received after 12 PM ET leave the following day.

Q8Disclaimer+
