In order to complete a reflash on these ECM’s, a specific tool is required. This allows us to gain access to the ECM, and tune remotely. Please select if you require a Nexiq tool. These tools are always in stock, and ready to sent out. TeamViewer will be needed to complete remote tune, along with a strong internet connection.
In need of more power?
This is a question that we get asked quite often. If you are in a situation where you feel like the machine you have is lacking in the horsepower department, we can help! When it comes to horsepower increases, the best way to explain it is that we are making the engine more efficient. It produces more power, sooner. When operating the equipment, it will take less load on the engine to get up to speed. This reduced the overall load on the engine, and as a result reduces the amount of fuel required. If there is a situation where more power is needed, you’ll have the extra horsepower available to you! It really is the best of both worlds.
What is an EGR System, and why remove them?
Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) is a method that is used to control Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) emissions. The purpose of this system is to return a small portion of exhaust gases back into the combustion chamber through the intake manifold. Lowering combustion temperature, resulting in a reduction of NOx emissions. The issue with EGR systems is that the valve can stick open due to carbon deposits. A worst case scenario is that the EGR becomes completely blocked, this will result in poor fuel mileage and a loss of power. When this occurs, it results in engine warning lights and the equipment going into limp mode. The vast majority of exhaust gas recirculation valves power off in the closed position. This means that once they are de-energized, they are in the shut position. On a few select applications, we offer block off plates. These plates are used as a fail safe, to ensure that there is no exhaust coming back into the intake system.
What is a DPF System, what do you need to do with it?
The diesel particulate filter, or DPF is part of the exhaust aftertreatment system. It’s main purpose is to trap particulate matter, such as soot. This soot has to be periodically burned off, which regenerates the filter. When the soot level reaches a high enough percentage, the engine starts to inject fuel directly into the exhaust system. This creates heat and converts soot into carbon dioxide. Having to deal with regen can cause down time for the machine. In some cases, the DPF will have to be replaced, or cleaned manually. Not to mention it is also extremely restrictive on the engine's ability to push air out. When it comes to removing the DPF canister, the only decision you have to make is whether you hollow it out or straight pipe it!
What is DEF, can I stop using it?
DEF (UREA), or diesel exhaust fluid is a liquid that is injected into the exhaust system. This part of the exhaust system is called the SCR, or the selective catalytic reduction. It is designed to remove nitrogen oxide emissions from the diesel engine. The issue with DEF is that because it is 67% water, it can freeze during the winter. This can crack the DEF tank and lead to other problems. Some manufacturers use DEF as their main, or only, source of emissions control. This can result in high costs, ensuring that the DEF is alway full. The catalyst that is used for the DEF is not as restrictive compared to the diesel particulate filter. This means that it can stay in place, even after a reflash has taken place. We recommend that you rinse out the DEF system with water after the fluid has been drained. DEF if left alone for a long period of time can crystalize. That is why it is best to make sure everything is clean!
Custom emissions system reflashing is a popular option. We can provide customers that are experiencing costly downtime and high fuel consumption emissions solutions for machines that are on or off warranty. Through custom tailoring of the engine control module, we can remove the exhaust gas recirculation, diesel particulate filter, and diesel exhaust fluid (also known as UREA). This will increase the machine's overall efficiency and reliability!
